Unlike other generic solutions that require access controllers and operator-dedicated access hardware to govern the hotspots, FAST ENABLER utilizes standard access points and routers allowing authentication and billing of users through the Internet, to SIM/Smart Card, and via Radius databases. TOGEWAnet has deployed this solution with Monzoon in Switzerland which WeRoam-enabled the network from one central location as a software upgrade. The early adoption of Smart Cards by the GSM and Satellite industries - and now by the WLAN industry - will ensure the ongoing development of secure mobility management.
According to Toni Stadelmann, CEO TOGEWAnet: We believe that this solution is the first in the world that combines the strength of the WeRoam service with a powerful, scalable software platform to minimize the capital investment for the WLAN operators. This solution represents an important milestone in the deployment of WLANs as it allows rapid aggregation of individual WLAN operators and hotspots into one unified network, removing the confusion of multiple accounts for every different location.
FAST ENABLER for the mobile operator allows high bandwidth services to be delivered through any WiFi hotspot to the mobile customer. FAST ENABLER for the broadband CATV network operator ensures that a single account is not shared through a wireless access point around neighboring homes and apartments. User identity is protected while a host of new services can be directed to the user, such as integration with pay-per-view video. FAST ENABLER for the broadband DSL network operator offers the security that is a cornerstone of enterprise computing.
We are excited about the timely availability of this solution, and the real life deployment with TOGEWAnet and Monzoon. We allow WLAN operators and Hotspot owners to participate in this exciting Wireless opportunity without the need for major capital deployments, by using commercially available WLAN access points and Routers, removing some of the mystique, allowing mobility and the simplicity of use comparable to a mobile phone or ATM machine. This again justifies that carrier grade networks can be implemented through software mediation solutions. Said John Baker, Transat CEO.

About TOGEWAnet
The Swiss company TOGEWAnet AG, established in 2001 and owned by TOGEWA Holding, specialises in mobility management and roaming optimisation solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector.
TOGEWAnet WeRoam service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secure roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. Key solutions found in GSM technology have been adopted to make up the WeRoam® service, which provides secure authentication (based on GSM SIM and Radius), signaling conversion, clearing and settlement services (based on TAP - Transferred Account Procedure) and management of contractual roaming agreements. The subscriber will benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards with the additional advantage of having a single identity, thus receiving only one bill from his home network operator despite having visited a number of operators and countries and having used different mobile standards.
Close ties with its sister company, Comfone AG, also founded by the umbrella company of TOGEWA Group, allow TOGEWAnet to benefit from Comfone depth of experience in offering a wide range of roaming services to GSM operators. For more information, please visit www.weroam.com
