WeRoam® Service offered on Wificom SAB Server™ - goes live

BERNE - AMSTERDAM - HELSINKI, 9 December 2003, Wificom Technologies today announced a groundbreaking partnership combining WeRoam® service with Wificom's SAB Server™.

With WeRoam® as a standard option on Wificom's backend billing, roaming and service management system, wireless providers can offer services that integrate seamlessly across WLAN and GSM networks and allow end-users maximum portability. Subscribers benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards while using a single identity and receiving only one bill from the home network operator.

The announcement was made in concert with Dutch HotZone operator WinQ, which in early November became the first client to use the joint solution in live mode.

“Using the combination of the SAB Server™ with WeRoam® service enables us to offer the end-user an experience that is comparable to using a mobile phone,” said Freek Peters WinQ's Director of Marketing and Sales. “Roaming GSM subscribers will play a very important role in Wi-Fi zones, and we are glad that Wificom as one of our main technology providers chooses to integrate with such high-end services as WeRoam®. For us, GSM roaming and authentication is crucial to delivering ease of use.”

WeRoam®' VP Marketing & Sales, Joseph Keleher, said “The implementation work we have done with Wificom means that every operator using the SAB Server™ will now have the opportunity to instantly start using the WeRoam® service. This partnership therefore immensely extends the reach of both companies.”

Fabian Ritzmann, Product Development Manager at Wificom noted that “The SAB Server™ was already recognised as one of the leading backend billing and roaming platforms with very flexible payment options.”

“Now, the addition of the WeRoam® service as a plug-and-play solution, exponentially increases the power of operators and WISPs to choose among payment methods for WLAN services,” he said. “Through WeRoam®, operators gain SIM and Radius-based connectivity with mobile networks and greatly increase the footprints of their WLAN offerings.”

About WeRoam®
WeRoam® is the trading name of Swiss company TOGEWAnet AG. Established in 2001 and owned by TOGEWA Holding and Infonet Services Corporation, WeRoam® specializes in mobility management and roaming optimization solutions for the mobile and wireless telecommunications sector.

The WeRoam® service facilitates the seamless integration of WLAN and GSM network technologies, enabling global roaming for WLAN services and thereafter facilitating automatic and secures roaming between WLAN, GSM and GPRS. Key solutions found in GSM technology have been adopted to make up the WeRoam® service, which provides secure authentication, signaling conversion, clearing and settlement services (based on TAP - Transferred Account Procedure) and management of contractual roaming agreements. This positions WeRoam® as the only open roaming platform supporting all relevant authentication methods for WLAN Roaming such as SIM, Radius and EAP SIM. Registration is pending to patent WeRoam®' innovative SIM based WLAN Roaming technology.

The subscriber will benefit from greater roaming coverage and the convenience of swapping between different standards with the additional advantage of having a single identity, thus receiving only one bill from his home network operator despite having visited a number of operators and countries and having used different mobile standards.

Close ties with its' sister company, Comfone AG, also founded by the umbrella company of TOGEWA Group, allow TOGEWAnet to benefit from Comfone' depth of experience in offering a wide range of roaming services to GSM operators. For more information, please visit www.weroam.com
